Study Island
Study Island is an online study tool. For several years Mansfield Schools has purchased a school-wide subscription that allows students to view lessons, practice, and monitor progress on the various sub-topics covered at each grade level. Each student has a specific password that must be used to access Study Island. Sometimes we utilize Study Island as a whole group to practice or review concepts. There are also times I give assignments related to a specific concept that students may complete on the laptops or at home. At times students may be asked to work independently, while at other times we may use the Classroom Response Systems (clickers) so that everyone may work independently on the same questions.
To access Study Island, click on the blue link below. Students may practice topics at the 6th/7th/8th grade levels for either math or communication arts or 8th grade for science. We are currently using both the Math tab (for Grade Level Expectations) and the Math (Common Core) tab (which covers the new Common Core State Standards).
Parents: Students should know their Study Island passwords and can use them from home. However, if your student has forgotten his or her password, contact me at [email protected] and I'll get that information to you. If you would like to view your student's scores or progress, you can sign up for parent notifications.
FYI: Study Island does have games that students can access and play as they are studying.
